How-to guide

How to find old Telegram groups and channels and check their real age.

Old chats are easy to claim and harder to prove. This guide covers where old groups and channels can be found, how to estimate their creation year yourself, and what evidence to ask for before you rely on an age claim.

There is no official Telegram directory sorted by creation date, so finding an old group or channel means combining search, directories and sellers, then checking the age claim yourself.

Where old groups and channels come from

Telegram global searchPublic groups and channels by name or usernameNo filter by age; results vary by country and account
Third-party directories and analytics sitesLists of public chats, sometimes with history chartsData is incomplete and often starts years after creation

How to check the age yourself

  1. Scroll to the very first message. In a group, the first service message ("group created") shows the earliest date if history is visible. In a channel, the first post gives a minimum age.
  2. Remember that the first visible post is only a minimum. Posts can be deleted and chats renamed or repurposed, and imported messages can carry older dates. See old posts vs creation date.
  3. Look at the chat ID pattern and username history if you use tools that show them; they can support, but not prove, an age claim.
  4. Use a second piece of evidence. Our step-by-step method is in how to check a Telegram creation date.

Evidence to ask for before buying

  • A screen recording that scrolls to the first service message or first post, made on request.
  • A live action you choose, such as posting a specific word, to prove control.
  • The current admin list, showing who is the Owner.
  • For groups: member condition (empty, a few members or an existing audience) and whether history is visible to new members. The group verification checklist covers this.

Red flags that the age claim is not true

  • Only screenshots, never a live check.
  • History "cleared for privacy" with no other evidence of the creation period.
  • Payment required before any evidence, or a guarantor the seller chose. More in scam red flags.

If you would rather buy by creation year

Sellers that publish prices by year make comparison easier. On AgedSocials, old channels are listed from $10 and old groups from $20, with a separate page for each year, for example 2016 channels or 2018 groups. The exact item and evidence are confirmed in writing before payment.

Frequently asked questions

Can I search Telegram for groups by creation date?

No. Telegram search has no age filter, so you have to check each chat's first messages or ask for evidence.

Does the first post prove when a channel was created?

No. It only shows a minimum age, because earlier posts may have been deleted and dates can be imported.

Where can I buy an old Telegram group?

From the current owner directly or from a specialist seller that lists chats by creation year and confirms evidence and ownership transfer in writing.

How do I know I am getting ownership, not just admin rights?

Check that the role shows as Owner after the transfer. Telegram's built-in owner transfer is the only real handover.

Are old Telegram groups expensive?

Prices depend on the creation year and member condition; older years cost more because fewer chats from those years remain.
