How Telegram counts characters
- Spaces and line breaks count as characters.
- Many emoji count as two characters, so emoji-heavy posts reach the limit sooner; the counter uses the same method.
- Formatting such as bold or links does not add characters to the limit. Format text with the Telegram text formatter.
When a post is too long
- Split it into several messages: the Check and split button cuts at line breaks or spaces, never in the middle of a word or emoji.
- Shorten a caption to 1,024 characters, or send the photo and the text as separate messages.
- For very long guides, send a file or link to a longer article.
