Telegram ad rejected? Check your channel first.

Most rejections of ads that promote a Telegram channel come from the destination, not the ad text. The official guidelines list what a channel must have before it can be advertised.

Telegram's ad guidelines say ad destinations must be functional, complete and active, with original content and a proper user experience. For channels that means a few concrete requirements you can check in minutes.

Destination rules for channels and bots

  • Not empty or abandoned: empty or abandoned channels, bots and accounts are not allowed as destinations.
  • Recent post: a channel must have at least one post published within the two weeks before review.
  • Complete profile: a profile image and a complete "about" or description text.
  • Language match: the language of the targeted channel should match the language of the ad and of the destination.
  • Bots must work: respond to commands properly on mobile and desktop.

  • The ad link and any link in the ad text must lead to the same destination.
  • The destination must match what the ad says and must not just redirect elsewhere.
  • No profanity, misleading claims or gimmicky capitalization; use numbers and symbols properly.
  • Do not change the destination after approval to show something else.

Advertising a channel you just bought

An old channel bought empty will be rejected as a destination until it looks like a real, active channel. Before running Telegram Ads:

  1. Set the name, profile photo and a complete description for your topic.
  2. Publish several original posts, including at least one in the last two weeks.
  3. Write the ad in the same language as the channel and the targeted channels.
