How to measure a Telegram promotion
- One invite link per campaign. Create a separate invite link for each ad or placement; the link shows how many people joined through it. Make links with the link generator.
- Count joins from that link after the ad has run.
- Count again after 7 or 30 days. Use your channel statistics or your own records to estimate how many of those members are still subscribed. Use the same day count for every campaign.
- Track what matters to you: link clicks from a tracked link, sales, sign-ups or leads, and the revenue they brought.
What the numbers mean
- Cost per join = cost ÷ joins.
- Retention = members still subscribed ÷ joins.
- Cost per retained member = cost ÷ members still subscribed. This is the fairest way to compare placements.
- Join rate from clicks = joins ÷ link clicks.
- Cost per conversion = cost ÷ sales or leads; ROI = (revenue − cost) ÷ cost.
These are simple ratios of your own numbers, not market benchmarks.
Choosing your next placement
Before you pay a channel, check its audience with the free channel audit, and if you sell ads yourself, send advertisers a report with the media kit generator. If your goal is a higher visible member count rather than conversions, compare with Telegram members packages; they raise the count, while activity still depends on your content.

Frequently asked questions
How do I measure the results of a Telegram ad?
Give each ad its own invite link, count joins from that link, count how many are still subscribed after 7 or 30 days, and compare the cost per retained member.
What is a good cost per subscriber on Telegram?
It depends on niche, language and placement. Compare your own campaigns by cost per retained member rather than relying on a general benchmark.
Why is cost per retained member better than cost per join?
Because members who leave quickly have no value. A placement with a higher cost per join can be cheaper per member who stays.
How do I calculate ROI for a Telegram promotion?
Subtract the ad cost from the revenue it brought and divide by the cost. For example, $40 spent and $100 earned is +150% ROI.
Is my data saved?
