Telegram channel statistics: where they are and what they mean.

Telegram gives channel admins detailed statistics once a channel is big enough. Here is where to open them, how to read the main graphs and how to judge a smaller channel without them.

Statistics answer the questions every channel owner has: are subscribers growing, when do people read, where do new readers come from and which posts work. They are built into Telegram and free, but only the owner and admins can see them.

Quick answer

Open the channel, tap its name and choose Statistics, or find it in the three-dot menu. Telegram's channel tour says advanced statistics are available for channels with more than 500 subscribers.

1. Where to open channel statistics

  1. Open your channel and tap its name at the top.
  2. Tap Statistics. In some app versions it sits in the three-dot menu instead.
  3. Scroll through the graphs. Tap a graph to zoom into a period.

Menu names can differ a little between Android, iPhone and app versions, but the path is the same.

2. Who can see the statistics?

  • Only the owner and admins of the channel. Subscribers and visitors cannot see them.
  • Telegram's channel tour says advanced statistics are available for channels with more than 500 subscribers. Telegram's developer documentation says the exact limit is set on Telegram's servers, so it can change.
  • Large groups have their own statistics too, with members, messages and the most active people.

3. What the graphs show

GraphWhat it tells you
Growth and followersTotal subscribers, people who joined and people who left each day
NotificationsHow many subscribers muted or unmuted the channel
Views by hoursWhen your readers are online, so you know when to post
Views by sourceWhere views come from: the channel itself, search, links or other channels
New followers by sourceWhat brought new subscribers in
LanguagesThe app languages of your subscribers
Interactions and recent postsViews and shares per post, and reactions

4. How to read them

  • Compare average views per post with the subscriber count. A channel where only a tiny share of subscribers ever sees a post deserves a closer look.
  • Watch the left and muted lines after each ad or giveaway. A jump in joins followed by a wave of leaves means the new readers were not interested.
  • Post at the hours where the views graph peaks.
  • Shares matter more than views: a shared post brings readers from outside.

What counts as a view is explained in Telegram views explained.

5. No statistics yet, or not your channel?

  • Below the threshold, use the view counter on each post and the subscriber count, and note them weekly.
  • Websites and bots that show stats for other people's channels estimate from public data. Never give such a bot admin rights, your login code or your password.
  • To check a public channel before you buy ads or buy the channel, read its public data with our free tool.

Frequently asked questions

Where are Telegram channel statistics?

Open the channel, tap its name and choose Statistics. In some versions it is in the three-dot menu.

Why can't I see statistics for my channel?

Statistics appear once a channel passes a size limit. Telegram's tour says more than 500 subscribers, and the exact limit is set by Telegram's servers. You must also be the owner or an admin.

Can subscribers see channel statistics?

No. Only the owner and admins can see them.

Can I see the statistics of someone else's channel?

Not Telegram's built-in ones. Outside sites and bots only estimate from public data such as views and subscriber counts.

What is a good views-to-subscribers ratio?

It varies by topic and size, so compare a channel with its own past numbers and with similar channels rather than with one fixed rule.
