Monetization

Channel earns no ad revenue? Here is what to check.

Reaching 1,000 subscribers makes a public channel eligible for Telegram's ad revenue share, but eligibility does not mean ads are shown or that earnings appear. These are the usual reasons and what you can do.

When Telegram launched channel monetization in March 2024, it said owners of public channels with at least 1,000 subscribers can receive 50% of the revenue from ads displayed in their channels, with withdrawals via Fragment.

What Telegram says

  • Who: owners of public channels with at least 1,000 subscribers.
  • Share: 50% of the revenue from ads displayed in the channel.
  • Payout: withdrawals go through Fragment; earnings can also be spent on Telegram ads, collectible usernames or Premium giveaways.
  • Where ads appear: Telegram's ads are shown only in large public channels.

Why earnings can stay at zero

  • The channel is private. The program is for public channels.
  • Ads are not being shown. Eligibility is not the same as ads running in your channel; revenue comes only from ads actually displayed.
  • Few real readers. Ads are shown to people who read posts. A channel with many inactive or bought subscribers has few ad views; see what views count.
  • Withdrawal not set up. Earnings are withdrawn via Fragment, which needs a connected wallet.

What to check, step by step

  1. Confirm the channel is public and has at least 1,000 subscribers.
  2. Open the channel's statistics and look for the monetization section, if your app shows it.
  3. Compare your typical views with your subscriber count; low views mean few ad impressions.
  4. For withdrawals, connect a wallet on Fragment and follow its steps.

Other ways channels earn

Ad revenue share is only one source. Many channels earn more from direct ad posts, paid subscriptions or Stars; compare options in how to monetize a Telegram channel and model a paid channel with the paid channel calculator. If you are buying a channel for income, value it on its real views, not its subscriber count, with the channel value calculator.

How do I withdraw Telegram ad earnings?

Telegram said withdrawals are made via Fragment, which requires a connected wallet.

Do private channels earn ad revenue?

No. Telegram described the revenue share for public channels.
