Telegram chat folders: create, sort and share them.

Chat folders sort your chats into tabs at the top of the chat list. A chat can be in several folders at once, and folders sync across your devices.

1. Create a folder

1. Open Settings and tap Chat Folders. On some apps it is called Folders.
2. Tap Create New Folder, or add one of the suggested folders.
3. Give the folder a short name.
4. Add chats, as explained below, and save.

Menu names can differ a little between Android, iPhone and app versions, but the path is the same.

2. Choose which chats go in it

• Add chat types: contacts, non-contacts, groups, channels or bots.
• Add single chats one by one.
• Exclude chats you do not want, or exclude muted, read or archived chats.
• A chat can sit in several folders at the same time.

3. Sort the tabs

• In Settings, Chat Folders, drag folders to change their order.
• Press and hold a folder tab to edit, reorder or delete it.

4. Share a folder with a link

A folder made of groups and channels can be shared with an invite link. People who open it can join all the chats in it with one tap, and are offered the chats you add later.

Telegram's chat folder page says every user can have 2 shareable folders with up to 100 chats each, and Premium users up to 20.

5. Limits

According to Telegram's Premium FAQ, if Premium ends, the first 10 folders keep working and the rest are locked.
