Telegram Premium: features, limits and how to pay less.

Premium is tied to one Telegram account and works on all of that account's devices. Everything that was free before Premium launched stays free, and people without Premium can still chat with Premium users without restrictions.

1. What Telegram Premium includes

According to the Telegram Premium FAQ, all subscribers currently get:

• Doubled limits and 4 GB file uploads
• Faster download speed
• Voice-to-text for voice and video messages
• Real-time translation of chats and channels
• Premium stickers, unique reactions, custom emoji and emoji statuses
• Animated profile pictures, a profile badge and premium app icons
• Advanced chat management and voice message privacy settings
• No sponsored messages in channels

Sponsored messages are the ads Telegram shows in some large public channels. Posts that channel admins publish themselves still appear for Premium users.

2. The doubled limits

3. Price, and how to pay less

• The price differs by store and country. Telegram says it adjusts prices to local living standards, and the price you see can include store fees and local taxes.
• @PremiumBot is cheaper. Subscriptions bought through @PremiumBot are discounted because Apple and Google take no fee. The bot works in the direct versions of Telegram for Android, Desktop and macOS, not in apps installed from the App Store or Google Play.
• Yearly plans cost less than paying month by month.
• Currency: with @PremiumBot, the first payment is priced by your phone number's country code; later payments use the country of your card.
• Gifts: you can gift Premium for 3, 6 or 12 months from any profile. Gifts use a global price so they work between countries.

Each account needs its own subscription, and one Apple ID or Google account supports only one subscription at a time. Changing your phone number does not cancel Premium.

4. What stays free without Premium

Unlimited cloud storage, large groups and channels, voice and video calls, several devices and accounts, and every feature that existed before Premium remain free. Free users can also download 4 GB files sent by Premium users, see premium sticker animations and repeat premium reactions that a subscriber has already added.

5. Premium for channels and groups: boosts

Channels and groups cannot subscribe themselves. They unlock features through boosts from Premium subscribers. Each channel level adds one story per day and one custom reaction; higher levels add name colors, cover colors, emoji statuses and custom backgrounds. The number of boosts needed depends on the subscriber count. Admins can also run giveaways: each Premium subscription given away brings 4 boosts. 6. What happens if you cancel

Premium stays active until the end of the paid period. After that, according to the FAQ:

• You keep usernames you already created, but cannot create new public ones while you own 10 or more.
• Only the first 10 folders keep working, and only the first 5 pinned chats stay pinned.
• Your bio shows only its first 70 characters, and saved GIFs past 200 are hidden.
• You keep the channels you joined but cannot join more until you are under the free limit.
• Downloads return to standard speed and the badge disappears.

To cancel, use the same place you subscribed: send /stop to @PremiumBot, or manage the subscription in Google Play or your Apple ID settings.
