Facebook Pages have no single 'owner' button. Ownership means holding Facebook access with full control and being the only person who does.

1. Give the buyer full control

  1. The seller switches to the Page and opens Settings → Page setup → Page access.
  2. Under people with Facebook access, the seller chooses Add new, searches for the buyer's profile and turns on full control.
  3. The buyer accepts the invitation from notifications.
  4. Facebook may delay new full-control access for security, especially on Pages with many followers. Wait until the buyer's access is fully active.

2. Pages in a Business portfolio

If the Page belongs to a Business portfolio (Meta Business Suite), access is managed there. Either the seller adds the buyer as an admin of the portfolio, or the Page is moved to the buyer's own portfolio. Ask which one applies before paying.

3. Remove the old owner

  • With full control active, the buyer removes the seller and any other people with access.
  • Check Page access again and the linked Instagram account, ad accounts and Business portfolio.
  • Change the Page's contact email and phone shown in its details.

4. Buyer checklist

  • Ask for a screen recording of Professional dashboard: followers, reach and any restrictions or monetization status.
  • Check that the follower count matches real activity on recent posts.
  • Use escrow and release payment only when you hold full control and the seller has been removed.
  • For monetized Pages, read Facebook Page monetization: payouts go to the payout account you set up yourself.

Frequently asked questions

How do I make someone the owner of my Facebook Page?

Open Settings → Page setup → Page access, add their profile and turn on full control. They become an owner once they accept and the access is active.

Why can't the new admin remove me yet?

Facebook can delay full control for new people as a security measure. Once the waiting period ends, the new full-control person can remove others.

Do followers stay when a Facebook Page changes owner?

Yes. Followers, posts and the Page URL stay with the Page; only the people who manage it change.

What if the Page is in a Business portfolio?

Access is then managed in Meta Business Suite. Either add the buyer as a portfolio admin or move the Page to the buyer's own portfolio.
