How Telegram ad revenue sharing works
- Who qualifies: owners of public channels with at least 1,000 subscribers, according to Telegram's announcement of the program.
- The share: 50% of the revenue Telegram earns from valid impressions of sponsored messages shown in the channel. Telegram's content creator terms say the share can change.
- The price: advertisers set a CPM, the price per 1,000 views of their ad. On the Telegram Ad Platform the minimum is 0.1 Gram (formerly Toncoin).
- Who sees ads: Telegram Premium subscribers do not see sponsored messages, so a channel with many Premium readers shows fewer ads.
- Getting paid: rewards are withdrawn through Fragment. Check your numbers under Channel Settings, Statistics, Monetization.
The formula
Monthly share = ad impressions ÷ 1,000 × CPM × 50%. For example, 200,000 impressions at a CPM of 0.5 Gram earn 100 Gram of ad revenue, and the owner's share is 50 Gram.
Ad impressions are not the same as post views: not every visit shows a sponsored message. Use the numbers in your Monetization statistics as soon as they appear.
Other ways a channel earns
Ad revenue is one source. Stars from paid posts and reactions can be converted with the Telegram Stars calculator, and a channel's total value can be estimated with the channel value calculator. If revenue does not appear at all, see why a channel shows no ad revenue.
